Yellowstone opened Season 5 with a bang on Sunday night.
The Kevin Costner-led neo-Western posted double digits in key demos gains versus last November’s Season 4 premiere, while also lassoing its largest premiere audience yet.
In Live+Same Day numbers, the Season 5 premiere on Paramount Network drew 8.8 million total viewers (up 10 percent YOY), while enjoying gains of 52 percent in the 18-34 demo, 22 percent in the 18-49 demo, and 13 percent in the 25-54 demo.
For comparison’s sake, broadcast-TV’s most-watched drama, NCIS, is averaging 6.6 million weekly viewers in Live+Same Day numbers (and 9.7 mil with Live+7 playback).
If you fold in Yellowstone simulcasts on CMT, TV Land and Pop, the Season 5 opener grew to 10.3 million viewers, up 8 percent from last year’s premiere. Meanwhile, its demo gains were 55 percent (in 18-34), 27 percent (18-49) and 17 percent (25-54).
Lastly, when you also add in Sunday-night encores of the premiere, the Yellowstone audience swells to 12.1 million (up 7 percent YOY), while the demo gains are a robust 53 percent (in 18-34), 25 percent (18-49) and 15 percent (25-54).

Great news for “Yellowstone.” Watched the premiere. Loved it!
Totally the best show on TV today. I wish more of Taylor Sheridan’s shows would come to Paramount or any other cable networks. I love Sheridan’s writings. Brilliant mind. Keep up the good work. A BIG fan.
Great double episode opener. However, I thought Beth looked pretty trashy at that shindig at the ranch,
That aside, there was a lot of exciting stuff going on. Looks like it’ll be a great season. I hope we hear about a season 6 renewal soon.
I’m not surprised. A lot of people really love this show. Taylor Sheridan has created not just a show but many generations of a family with prequels that people are truly invested in.
That is great! The premier of YELLOWSTONE was great and the best show on TV. Great actors.. I am 64yrs. Old. You forgot to count us in..
We’re even older than that and we love the show(s) that Taylor has created too. My husband and I are both 71 and couldn’t wait for Yellowstone to start again.
We don’t count because apparently we don’t buy enough stuff from the advertisers. But we know quality shows when we see them. And we also see the snubs from the Emmy commission; that is a mystery to me.
This show could run daily & the audience would continue to grow. Not only does it have the “Neo Western” going for it, it’s about a family who struggles like all families do with everyday life & the fight of industry & government trying to take what you have. Who wouldn’t identify with that? You factor in great caliber actors & the great writing of Taylor Sheridan, you know it’s gonna be something GREAT to watch!
So if you’re over 54, you don’t count? I pay for cable just like the younger individuals. Don’t understand….
My husband & I are 80 and we have never missed an episode of Yellowstone!! We should also count! We love the show & couldn’t wait for it to start again!!
It’s amazing that networks usually fall over themselves to duplicate what makes a show like this such an enormous hit. They’ve completely forgotten that people in the fly over red states actually watch TV shows that’s don’t constantly berate them.
What were the demo numbers?
18-34 year olds (2.53) 18 to 49 (3.96). 25-54 (5.48). And that’s just the Paramount numbers not including CMT and TV Land. And only LD+SD.
Thank you. Broadcast would kill for a 3.96 18-49 these days
The premiere was awesome. Its even better with 2 episodes airing. i really enjoyed it. Great storytelling.
And in a month 1923 will air ^^ Great series. !
I am late to the game with Yellowstone. For some reason I figured it was a show I wouldn’t really care for… I was wrong! I finally dived into it middle of last week on Peacock and I’m at season 4, ep 7 as of tonight. It’s about all I’ve watched every night! Fantastic show!
Glad you found it!! Wonder why Emmy can’t?
And if it was on Paramount Network as advertised IN CANADA they would’ve had many more viewers!!!🤬 Not everyone can get Paramount Plus which is NOT what was advertised.
My husband and I are really disappointed because the previous seasons were on the Paramount Networ here in Canada, and now we have to get Paramount + just to see season 5. Totally wrong!!! We also can’t get the new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution.
